The Delta Optical Stryker 5-50×56 has come a long way these last few years and is now a well and truly proven scope. Having won its share of matches across Australia and abroad the Delta Optical Stryker series really are giant slayers. The 2020 updates saw a slew of changes bringing the scope up to the latest demands of modern precision shooters and with Australian made porter rings, precision, reliability and consistency with your optical system is here..

What we wrote all those years ago in 2017 (copied by almost every other Australian Retailer of the Stryker scopes 😉 Finally in Australia, the new Delta Optical Stryker 5-50×56 second focal plane scope is the high mag ultrafine target scope F Class and Long range target shooters have been waiting for. Japanese ED Glass, 100moa of available elevation, 50x magnification, 56mm objective, 1/8MOA adjustments, modern ret with subtensions as well as an ultrafine illuminated centre dot (1/10MOA at 40x!!!), a scope that out performs most $3000+ target scopes is now available in Australia for $2450.

Like the Stryker ffp (4.5-30×56) the glass is typical high end Japanese, bright, clear and unfussy. Put it up against any other Japanese target scope, even those twice the price of this offering from Delta Optical and it not only will surprise, it will outperform. Coupled with the new ZeroLok turrets (MOA versions only) which are locking, lift to turn turrets that can be re-zeroed without tools (zero stop requires use of included hex wrench), The Delta Stryker range compete with Tier one scopes for half the price. If you are looking for better glass and better turrets then we recommend the Tangent Theta, a price jump of $3000, anything less, we recommend the Delta.

The Delta 5-50×56 in MIL;

Regular followers would be aware that this is was our go to predator control scope – until the delta stryker 3.5-21×44 came out – and is so because it is perfect for the role. With the magnification dialled back to 5x and the centre illumination turned on it is ideal for spotlighting. Longer shots presenting themselves, targeting varmints or trying to ID targets in stubble? Being able to crank the scope to 20x, 30x, 40x and even right up to 50x can make the difference. We regularly set up calling stations for predator control as well as leaving the caller out of it and just set up high over watching dams and cover filled gullies for any passing problem predator. For these situations we always have the Delta 5-50×56 on the rifle, we can spot movement with the bino’s, range with the TerrapinX and then settle in behind the rifle, crank the magnification for a easy identification and a precision shot saving native animals, new born lambs and calves.

Our predator control rifles are also our precision varmint rifles perfect for setting up across a gully and sniping small varmints for crop protection and filling the fridge with free range meat. We have a favourite spot for sniping rabbits with distances to 320m that we run exactly like our predator overwatch spots. An afternoon varminting is fun, can feed an army and is fantastic training as time for shots is limited, target size is small and wind can be tricky. The Delta 5-50×56 simply excels during these sessions.

Not a farmer or don’t do much predator control work or long range varminting? What we haven’t done much posting on lately, mainly because we’ve been waiting since October for a certain new bullet out of Canada and a new DBM from Atlasworxs, is another favoured past time, extreme long range (ELR). Our go to rifle for 1000m+ is our 30″ bull barrel 300wm Schultz and Larsen Tactical and when we are testing bullets or training with others what scope do we install? The Delta 5-50×56.

For testing bullets beyond transonic not only does the Delta 5-50x track all the way out with 30mils of adjustment and return all the way to zero perfectly every time, but the fine second focal plane reticle and high magnification enable us to use fine aiming points and holds while clearly spotting our own shots. With other shooters on the line shooting these distances the Delta enables us to spot their shots easily without coming off our own rifle to use a dedicated spotting scope. It really is a marvellous scope for ELR and at under $2500 it really performs above its asking price would indicate, especially with that ultra fine reticle. In fact thanks to the reticle the Delta replaced the IOR 12-52×56 Terminator in our lineup. When we need higher magnification than the TT525P, we turn to the Delta Stryker.

The scope is also a supremely competitive target scope and the MOA variant has been used to win 1000 yard Benchrest matches regularly (The 1/8MOA adjustment variant with MOA reticle is better suited than the MIL variant for dedicated competitive target shooting). Because of its pedigree as a target scope in Benchrest and F Class, the often forgotten advantage of the 5-50x in MIL is its use for load development. Except when we are pushed for time (eg, when we picked up our 284 Shehane and headed off hunting about 10 days later), we actually install a 5-50×56 on the rifle undergoing load development as it gives us the ability to not only aim in the exact same spot each time, but clearly see the group size even at distance without coming off the rifle.

Basically, after the Tangent Theta’s the Delta Stryker 5-50×56 in MIL is a favourite and we are pretty sure every shooter would appreciate having one.
